The highlight for me was our excursion to Monserrat to see the Black Madonna. The drive up the mountain was breathtaking, and once we got to the monastery, we were in awe. The energy there was so peaceful and spiritual. We couldn’t resist stopping by the famous “Kiss Mural” on the way back – a must-see for any visitor to Barcelona. And of course, no trip would be complete without indulging in some classic Spanish churros with thick, rich chocolate for dipping.
The vibe of the whole cruise was just so relaxed and easy-going. After our time in Barcelona, hopping on the Princess Sun felt like the perfect way to unwind and take in the Mediterranean at our own pace. The ship had such a great variety of activities and entertainment, but we also loved just sitting back on our balcony, watching the world go by.
One thing you have to do if you go is the excursion to the military tunnels in Gibraltar. Seeing the Barbary macaques, the only wild monkey population in Europe, was such a cool experience. And being able to look out and see the coasts of both Spain and Africa from the same spot was just mind-blowing. We even brought home a little piece of the iconic “Rock of Gibraltar” for my son the hydrogeologist – he loved it!
If you want to do this right, let me know. I’d be happy to help you plan the perfect Mediterranean cruise from Barcelona to Italy. With my insider knowledge and connections, I can make sure you have an unforgettable experience, just like we did.
